Darfur: The Arabs are Victims Too
I've been waiting for an article like this one to come out, finally noticing that not all nomadic Arabs in Darfur are bad or members of the janjaweed militias.
Now we need to live up to our humanitarian principles and provide needed assistance to the civilian nomads.

They are indeed victims. But this is very much a Moslem culture thing, and they're all Moslems - they don't like us.
Why should we step forward with endless sympathy, at risk of provoking inevitable Moslem hostility, when their fellow Moslems themselves do nothing? They talk about the Ummah when it serves a hostile agenda; they don't talk about it - and help each other - when it concerns humanitarian issues. The oil countries in particular have absolutely no problem in paying for some humanitarian aid. But they're more interested in paying for terrorism.
First of all, I think saying that all Muslims don't like "us" - whatever "us" is - Americans? Christians? - is a ridiculous generalization. I've met quite a few Muslims who don't hate "us", and several are my good friends.
And secondly, as to why we should step forward and help people in need of help, if they are Muslims... um, because they are people? human beings? It seems to me that if no one else is helping them, then that's all the more reason why we should.
